CHAPTER 197: BAIT FOR THE BEAST
Bait for the Beast
With a quick decision, you push the survivor toward the gas station. Panic flashes in his eyes, but there's no time for protest. The Abomination roars behind you, and desperation fuels your actions. The survivor stumbles, then sprints toward the gas station, glancing back at you with a mix of betrayal and fear.
You follow closely, heart pounding, as the monstrous footsteps grow louder. The gas station looms ahead, a relic from a world long gone. You signal to the survivor, pointing at the pumpsโyour target. He nods reluctantly, understanding the grim necessity of the plan.
As the survivor reaches the pumps, the Abomination barrels into view. It's a grotesque amalgamation of flesh and fury, eyes filled with mindless rage. The survivor fumbles with the gas pumps, frantically trying to set up an explosion. Sweat drips down his face, and you can see the terror in his shaking hands.
The beast closes in, its massive form casting a shadow over the concrete. You take cover behind a nearby car, praying the timing works. The survivor yells, "Now!" just as he hurls a lighter toward the gas. There's a split second of silence, followed by a deafening explosion. Flames engulf the area, and the Abomination is caught in the inferno.
But as the smoke clears, you see something that turns your blood coldโthe monster is still moving, albeit slower and wounded. The plan didn't finish it, and now you've got nowhere to hide as the creature, fiery and furious, turns its attention back to you.
