CHAPTER 225: EXPLOSIVE DISTRACTION
EXPLOSIVE DISTRACTION
You scan the abandoned landscape, spotting a rusted car with its hood ajar, like a moth-eaten relic of a safer world. Heart pounding, you race towards it, the Abomination's roar a constant reminder of the ticking clock. As you reach the vehicle, you slam the hood shut, hoping the sudden noise would momentarily disrupt the beastโs predatory focus.
Frantically, you yank open the driver's side door and dive into the car, your fingers working on instinct. A few twists of exposed wires, a shower of sparks, and the engine sputters to life, coughing like an old man on his deathbed. You slam the gas pedal with your foot, the car lurching forward before it crashes into a barricade of debris, wedging tight and sending metal screeching into the air.
Behind you, the Abomination pauses, its grotesque head cocking to the side in confusion. The noise seems to have done the trick. With no time to relish the momentary victory, you scramble out of the wreck, sprinting towards a cluster of overturned cars and scattered rubble. The beastโs attention diverts, driven by the primal curiosity of the explosion.
You slide into the shadow of a derelict bus, catching your breath. Relief is fleeting as the Abomination, finally aware of the trap, lets out a howl that echoes through the city ruins. The sudden silence that follows thickens the air, anticipation building as you clutch your meager supplies.
Suddenly, the bus shifts under the weight of something massive. The Abomination is far from fooled, its rage now a storm barreling towards you. Each heavy footfall sets your teeth on edge, reminding you of your precarious position.
You need to act fast, or you'll be nothing more than a stain on the pavement.
