THE NARROW ESCAPE

CHAPTER 42: THE NARROW ESCAPE
With the flare lighting up the chaos, you grab the survivor's arm, urging him forward. "This way!" you shout over the din, eyes scanning the terrain for any sign of a narrow passage through the ravine. Your feet pound against the rocky ground, the heat of the burning forest at your back a constant reminder of the urgency.

Amidst the clamor of bandits and the chilling groans of the undead, you spot a narrow crevice in the rock wall. It's barely wide enough for a person to squeeze through, but it's a potential escape route. Without hesitation, you pull the survivor towards it, your adrenaline-fueled strength propelling you both into the tight confines.

The darkness envelops you as you navigate the cramped space, the walls closing in around you. Groans of the undead echo ominously from the entrance, the sound bouncing eerily off the stone. You push forward, your heart pounding in sync with the chaos outside.

Suddenly, a loud crack splits the air, and the world around you shudders. The crevice trembles as loose rocks begin to rain down, threatening to trap you in a tomb of stone. Your heart skips a beat as you feel the survivor stumble behind you, a sharp gasp escaping his lips as he collapses, his leg pinned by a heavy boulder.

"Leave me," he whispers, resignation in his eyes. The moans grow louder, closer, and you realize time is running out. The undead will soon discover your hiding spot, and the crevice may not hold much longer.
All Choices That Were Available:
  • 1. Use all your strength to free the survivor, risking your own safety to save him.
  • 2. Abandon the survivor and push forward alone, seeking your own survival above all else.
  • 3. Attempt to create a diversion by setting off the remaining explosives to collapse the entrance.
  • 4. Carefully assess the situation and attempt to lift the boulder just enough to free the survivor's leg without further collapse.
