CHAPTER 86: THE FINAL PUSH
You grit your teeth, the weight of the world—or at least, the weight of the desperate souls clinging around you—feeling like it's about to drag you back into the merciless waters. The river's pull is relentless, and every second counts. With a swift, brutal decision, you shove one of the struggling survivors off the debris. Their eyes meet yours, surprise mingling with betrayal as they splash into the cold embrace of the river.

Breathless, you scramble up the now lighter debris, adrenaline surging through your veins as you focus solely on survival. The harsh reality of your choice gnaws at you, but there's no time to dwell. The water roars beneath you, hungry for its next victim. Behind you, the survivor's cries are swallowed by the crashing waves, their fate sealed by your desperate act.

The exit draws nearer, the promise of safety just within reach. You push forward, muscles burning, the promise of dry land and salvation driving you onward. But as you reach for the edge of the tunnel, a massive wave crashes into the debris again, shaking it violently. You barely manage to hold on, fingertips gripping the last remnants of safety as the water threatens to drag you back into the depths.

Just when you think you may have a chance, the debris begins to splinter and crack beneath your weight, the exit still inches away. Time is running out, and the river is far from done with you.
All Choices That Were Available:
  • 1. Reach down to pull another struggling survivor to safety, risking your own chance of escape.
  • 2. Abandon all others and launch yourself towards the exit, ensuring your own survival.
  • 3. Use a splintered plank to pole vault towards the exit, hoping for a miraculous landing.
  • 4. Wait for the debris to stabilize, planning a careful but delayed escape.
